UPLAND
NORA ENFIELD (18) has been on her father volunteer trail crew since she was twelve. TOM ENFIELD (48) is a high school biology teacher who has run the North Cascades trail crew for eleven years. On the traverse, weather arrives early and Tom falls. Nora sets the anchor correctly. The anchor holds. She says: That is not the same as being gone.
A teenage girl accompanies her father on his annual six-day volunteer trail repair crew in the North Cascades. On day three a flash flood cuts them off from the trailhead and injures the crew medic. She has been accepted to college on the East Coast. This is their last summer together. The flood is the adventure. The conversation they have not had in four years is the film.
